Talking With Your Child About Hope's Voice
Parent Discussion Guide — Hope's Voice
Before Reading
- Choose a calm, comfortable time.
- Let your child know there are no wrong feelings.
- Never force your child to answer.
While Reading
- Pause when Hope shows a strong emotion.
- Ask gently, "What do you think Hope may be feeling?"
- Give your child enough time to respond.
After Reading
- How do you think Hope felt at the beginning?
- Have you ever felt nervous about talking?
- What helped Hope feel brave?
- Who is someone you trust?
- What makes you feel safe?
- When do you feel happiest?
Helpful Responses
- "Thank you for telling me."
- "Your feelings matter."
- "I'm listening."
- "You are not alone."
- "We can find help together."
The goal is not to have the perfect conversation. The goal is to help your child feel heard, safe, and supported.
