Learning Goals
- Identify and name everyday emotions.
- Understand why speaking up matters.
- Name trusted adults at home and at school.
- Practice kindness toward classmates.
- Practice listening when someone else is speaking.
Materials
- Hope's Voice book
- Paper
- Crayons
- Pencils
- Chart paper
Lesson Flow
- Welcome and feelings check-in: greet each child and invite them to share one feeling word.
- Read Hope's Voice aloud, pausing when Hope shows a strong feeling.
- Guided discussion: use the classroom discussion questions.
- Creative activity: choose one of the four classroom activities.
- Closing affirmation: say it together as a class.
Classroom Notes
- Never require a child to answer or share.
- Accept every feeling word without correcting it.
- Model calm listening — children copy what they see.
